The theme for this year’s Day for Life, celebrated on Sunday, 21 June, is: The Wonder of the Child in the Womb.

Parenthood is a vocation of joys and hopes, of grief and anxieties. On this year’s Day for Life, we acknowledge the particular grief of mothers and fathers who have lost a child before birth or in infancy.

Many parents find consolation in their faith and its assurance that every child, including those who lose their life before they are born or soon after, is created, willed and deeply loved by God from all eternity.

Here we offer an A4 booklet for download, an A4 poster, and suggested parish newsletter text.

This simple A4 PDF booklet contains the joint message from the Bishops of England and Wales, Ireland, and Scotland, along with a psalm and prayers for Day for Life 2026.

Suggested Newsletter Text

This suggested text can be used in parish newsletters in the lead up to Day for Life. Please modify as appropriate:

This Sunday, 21 June, we mark Day for Life, the day in the Church’s calendar when we come together to celebrate the dignity of all human life from conception to natural death. This year’s theme is ‘The Wonder of the Child in the Womb’. A child is a gift from God to be nurtured and cherished, but the theme also recognises the tragedy of babies who died before birth and the grief experienced by their parents and families.

The bishops’ message and prayers can be found on the website: www.dayforlife.org. The second collection will go toward the Day for Life Fund, which distributes grants to organisations that promote respect for life from conception until natural death. You can also donate online on the Day for Life website.
