Following the January 2012 publication of a book containing the joint-statements and agreements issued by the Catholic and Oriental Orthodox Churches, a celebration of Solemn Vespers took place at St James’ Church, Spanish Place in central London on Thursday 6 December.

The Vespers of The Blessed Virgin Mary and Hymn of The Annunciation of The Mother of God not only offered the opportunity to pray for unity between the Churches but also marked forty years of Common Statements Between The Catholic Church and The Oriental Orthodox Churches.

The Co-Chairs of the Catholic-Oriental Orthodox Regional Forum, Archbishop Kevin McDonald, Archbishop Emeritus of Southwark, and His Grace Bishop Angaelos, General Bishop of the Coptic Orthodox Church in Great Britain attended alongside other church leaders and clergy.

It was organised with the help of the Society of St John Chrysostom.
