The Rt Rev Ralph Heskett has been Installed the third Bishop of Hallam.

The Mass of Installation took place in St Marie’s Cathedral in Sheffield on Thursday 10 July 2014.

Bishop Heskett succeeds Bishop John Rawsthorne who served Hallam as Bishop for just over 17 years.

He was Ordained to the Episcopate in July 2010 becoming the seventh Bishop of Gibraltar – 100 years after the first.

In May 2014, Pope Francis announced Bishop Heskett would be Installed Bishop of Hallam.

Background

The Diocese of Hallam was formed in May 1980 after the division of the Dioceses of Leeds and Nottingham.

It consists of the County of South Yorkshire, parts of the High Peak and Chesterfield Districts of Derbyshire, and the District of Bassetlaw in Nottinghamshire under the patronage of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour.
