Well we always knew that October would be a very busy month and that’s why this episode of At the Foot of the Cross is creeping in just days before November.
Where to start? In October we celebrated our National Eucharistic Congress – Adoremus. Of the many highlights, surely nobody will forget witnessing Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament held high in procession as thousands of people journeyed from one iconic London cathedral to another – St George’s Southwark, over Lambeth Bridge to Westminster’s Metropolitan Cathedral of the Most Precious Blood.
It was truly a rich and beautiful event in the life of the Church in England and Wales. Local events were held in parallel to the London programme making it a profound national and diocesan event.
Later in the podcast, Fleur Dorrell picks up the theme and talks to us about the scriptural roots of our eucharistic life for this month’s Biblical Apostolate slot.
In the middle of October we welcomed the Vatican Cardinal responsible for dialogue with other religions. Cardinal George Jacob Koovakad made a week-long visit to the UK. The prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue met with representatives of other religions – a particular focus falling on the Dharmic religions.
Abbot Hugh Allan, our Director of Mission, talks about both these major events, and, as a bonus, offers his reflections on All Saints and All Souls as we move into November.
All this and more on October’s At the Foot of the Cross.
