Nurturing one’s marriage is not a seasonal endeavour. Hard work and commitment are needed on a daily basis to keep the ship sailing straight. Summer, however, presents the opportunity to take a little time off for rest and recouperation – family time when, for a few precious weeks, we can hit the reset button after the rigours of the first six months of the year.

For married couples, it’s a chance to spend some quality time together and to take a break from the demands of work or, if blessed with children, the endless school runs and education-based drama.

For this episode of our Catholic News podcast, we welcome into the studio Reverend Roger Carr-Jones, Chair of Marriage Care, the Catholic charity that helps couples form and sustain healthy marriages. Roger is also the Marriage and Family Life Coordinator for the Diocese of Westminster as well as a permanent deacon. His wife Jackie is a Marriage Care volunteer, so there’s plenty of experience and wisdom in the words we hear today.

In this entertaining and insightful conversation with our Senior Media Officer, Steph MacGillivray, Roger offers many useful tips to help couples nurture and strengthen their marriages, and uses the odd culinary metaphor to get the point across! If you visit the “pantry of married love,” you will certainly find all the required ingredients, practically and spiritually, to maintain a healthy relationship. Intrigued? Listen for more.
