The Council of European Bishops' Conferences (CCEE) brings together the Presidents of Europe's Episcopal Conferences linking them in communion.
Its aim, in a world moving towards greater unity, is to safeguard and promote the welfare of the Catholic Church.
The CCEE address issues crucial to the evangelisation and enculturation of the Gospel in a European context such as ecumenicsm, education, migration, interreligious dialogue and environmental issues.
Cardinal Vincent Nichols was elected a Vice President of CCEE on 8 October 2016 on a five-year mandate serving until 2021.
The Secretariat is based in St Gallen, Switzerland.
