The Catholic Bishops of England and Wales met for their autumn plenary meeting at Hinsley Hall in the Diocese of Leeds from 14 – 17 November 2016. Here you can read/download the statements and resolutions.

Reflecting on the challenge presented by Pope Francis in his Encyclical, Laudato 'si, the Bishops’ Conference encourages the use of practical resources provided by the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD) which give advice for personal and community action for the protection of our environment.

Recognising the central role of employment in helping people leaving prison to become reintegrated into society, the Bishops’ Conference agrees to ‘Ban the Box’ in their diocesan recruitment practices, and encourages all employers to do the same, so as to allow for applicants to make their case.

The Bishops’ Conference supports the proposal for a Eucharistic Pilgrimage and Congress to take place in Liverpool in September 2018.

‘The Right Road’ draws expertise from Catholic chaplains, charities and experts working in the field of criminal justice, to make recommendations for prison reform in today’s context.
