As Christians, we understand the Bible to be the written word of God.
Read in the light of the Church’s living Tradition, the texts of Scripture speak to us of God’s character, his relationship with humanity, a range of responses to God’s calling, and our part in God’s kingdom and his mission.
In November 2015, to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Vatican II Document, Dei Verbum, a national Scripture conference was held in Manchester. The theme of the conference centred on Luke’s gospel.
The Scripture Working Group was established in 2011 as part of the Department for Evangelisation and Catechesis.
Verbum Domini, or 'The Word of the Lord', is a 2010 post-synodal apostolic exhortation issued by Benedict XVI which deals with how the Church should promote the Bible.
