For February’s At the Foot of the Cross podcast, we welcome back Abbot Hugh Allan, our Director of Mission. Abbot Hugh discusses Lent and the three pillars that prop up our 40-day journey to get closer to Our Lord Jesus Christ – prayer, fasting and almsgiving.
We also reflect on the Installation of Archbishop Richard Moth, the twelfth Archbishop of Westminster. You can listen to the full homily from the Mass of Installation in today’s episode.
It wouldn’t be an At the Foot of the Cross without a Scriptural reflection from Fleur Dorrell, our Biblical Apostolate Manager. Fleur provides an extraordinary 17-minute journey through the Bible and offers some achievable top tips to help us deepen our relationship with Christ through Scripture.
Finally we have the second feature in our new series Little Brother Francis. Co-presenter Steph MacGillivray introduces the world’s second youngest Cardinal, His Eminence Giorgio Marengo, the Apostolic Prefect of Ulaanbaatar, a missionary jurisdiction that covers the entire country of Mongolia.
Cardinal Marengo then tells us the fascinating story of Fr John Plano Carpini, a first generation Franciscan friar who personally knew St. Francis of Assisi. Hailing from the Umbria region of Italy, he is thought to be the first person from the West to set foot in Mongolia after Pope Innocent IV sent him to the court of the emperors of Mongolia.
