In this episode we read Acts 5: 1-16. Ananias and his wife Sapphira sell a piece of property but keep some of the proceeds for themselves. Ananias places the rest at the apostles’ feet. Peter tells Ananias that in doing this he has “not lied to man but to God”. In hearing this Ananias fell down and breathed his last. Then his wife Sapphira comes in, not knowing what had happened, and repeats the same lie to Peter. Having tested ‘the Spirit of the Lord’ she too breathes her last. The chapter concludes with the healing of many sick and afflicted people.
