The Diocese of Hallam was formed in May 1980 after the division of the Dioceses of Leeds and Nottingham.
It consists of the County of South Yorkshire, parts of the High Peak and Chesterfield Districts of Derbyshire, and the District of Bassetlaw in Nottinghamshire.
The Diocese of Hallam is under the patronage of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour.
On 20 March 2026, following acceptance of the resignation of the Right Rev Ralph Heskett as Bishop of Hallam, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV appointed Bishop Marcus Stock as Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Hallam, whilst retaining his current office as Bishop of Leeds, and Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Middlesbrough.
The Bishop of Hallam is the Right Reverend Ralph Heskett.
