Bishop Declan Lang releases a statement in solidarity with the Nicaraguan Bishops.
“With growing concern I have learnt of the crisis in Nicaragua in which hundreds of lives have been lost, countless young people injured and imprisoned at the hands of para-military and State forces.
I express my admiration and support for the tireless efforts made by the Church, its bishops and pastors, throughout Nicaragua to bring about a peaceful and just resolution of the crisis through mediation and facilitation of the national dialogue as well as in direct action to save lives.
I join in prayer with the bishops and people so that, with God’s help, peace with justice will be restored in Nicaragua.”
