Advent Art: The Nativity at Night

CBCEW » Seasons » Advent » » Advent Art: The Nativity at Night

It’s week four of our seasonal ‘Advent Art’ podcasts. The series tells the Advent story using four paintings from the National Gallery’s world-famous collection.

Each Sunday in Advent we join two culturally immersed priests who offer a thought-provoking insight into the works.

Father Christopher Whitehead, the Clifton Diocese’s Director of Adult Education is joined in conversation by Dr James Hanvey SJ, Director of the Heythrop Institute for Religion, Ethics and Public Life and an expert in art and culture.

For the Fourth Sunday of Advent, Fathers Whitehead and Hanvey are looking at ‘The Nativity at Night’ by Geertgen tot Sint Jans, thought to have been painted around 1490.
