Royal Navy Chaplains

Royal Navy chaplains provide pastoral care to navy personnel and are present at the heart of their working lives.

Chaplains can be found on every base and provide vital support in times of peace and, of course, times of conflict.

Smaller ships may share a chaplain with two or three other small vessels. Bigger ships like destroyers have a chaplain on board.

If you have a problem or an issue you can’t cope with, you can talk to the chaplains. You sit down, and they give you a cup of tea and a biscuit – they’re always open and very kind. Chaplains never speak down to you – their door is always open. They ensure you get the help you need.
