CAFOD

CAFOD is the official aid agency for the Catholic Church in England and Wales.

CAFOD (Catholic Agency for Overseas Development) works in some of the poorest communities in more than 40 countries, standing side by side with them to end poverty and injustice.

Working with people of all faiths and none, there are four main aspects to what CAFOD does:

  1. Responding to emergencies
  2. Working with poor communities to improve their chances in life
  3. Reaching out and educating UK audiences on global poverty and justice issues
  4. Lobbying and campaigning to change global systems and structures in favour of the poorest people.

CAFOD works with more than 500 partners overseas, and with partners in the UK to reduce poverty. Inspired by Scripture, Catholic Social Teaching and the experiences and hopes of people living in poverty, CAFOD works for a safe, sustainable and peaceful world.

CAFOD works closely with the Bishops’ Conference Department for International Affairs
