The Rt Rev Philip Egan, Bishop of Portsmouth, has asked his clergy to open churches for prayer on Thursday evening, 17 July, before an important debate on the Assisted Dying Bill.

The debate takes place in the House of Lords on Friday 18 July and Bishop Philip is asking parishioners to spend some time in front of the Blessed Sacrament during a Holy Hour on Thursday evening.

He is encouraging every parish to unite together in prayer for the protection of life, particularly in its end stages.
