Islam and Mercy

As we contemplate the nature of mercy in our world, here’s some audio from our archives from our department for dialogue and unity.

Recorded in 2016, this audio features Dr Mohammad Ali Shomali, the imam of the Islamic Centre of England and a long-standing participant in Shi’a-Catholic dialogue.

In this interview, Dr Shomali and Dr Mahnaz Heydapour, who is the author of the book “Love in Islam”, explore the concept of mercy in Islam – from practising mercy to praying for your enemy.

As a married couple, they also speak about the more private dimensions of mercy – and the family as its first school.
