The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse was set up in July 2014 to examine how the country’s institutions handled their duty of care to protect children from sexual abuse. The Catholic Church in England and Wales has welcomed the independent inquiry into child sexual abuse and has set up a council to assist the inquiry in its deliberations.
