The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales organises the annual Holy Land Coordination which is mandated by the Holy See, to act in solidarity with region’s Christian communities.
During his historic visit to Bethlehem Pope Francis said: “For the good of all, there is a need to intensify efforts and initiatives aimed at creating the conditions for a stable peace based on justice, on the recognition of the rights of every individual, and on mutual security.”
Informed by the local Church and the Holy Land Coordination, our advocacy covers a range of justice and peace issues including: the Separation Wall, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and the rights of minorities in Israel.
We regularly raise these issues with the Foreign Office and parliamentarians, as well as both the Israeli and Palestinian embassies.
