European Citizens – Advocacy

Around 60% of the 3.2 million EU citizens living in the UK are Catholics. Safeguarding the future of everyone who has made their home here is a priority for the Church.

We are closely engaging with both the Home Office and the European Commission about protecting the rights of Europeans who want to carry on living and working here after Brexit.

Through Catholic parishes and charities, we are also providing people with information about the Settlement Scheme and where they can receive support to apply.

We strongly opposed the proposal to charge people applying for the Settlement Scheme and welcomed the decision in January 2019 to drop all fees.
