Prisoners' Survey: 'Belief and Belonging' makes society a safer place

The Catholic faith is a significant part of prisoners’ lives in prisons of all sorts from Young Offender Institutions to High Security prisons and female establishments, new research has revealed. It claims that religion can help cut re-offending rates as it moves offenders to remorse, to have empathy for victims, to focus away from crime and move into a new community.

Bishop Declan to preside at the Mass to stand in solidarity with the Pakistan Christian community

In response to the horror of the bombing of families in the park at Lahore, Pakistan on Easter Sunday, St Nicholas of Tolentino Church are celebrating a Mass for the victims, both deceased and injured, and for the persecuted Church in Pakistan. Bishop Declan will preside at the Mass on Saturday 2 April at 12 noon and all are invited to stand in solidarity with the Pakistan Christian community.

Cardinal: Pray for dead and wounded in Easter attack in Lahore, Pakistan

A suicide bomber has killed at least 70 people and injured around 300 in an attack against Christians celebrating Easter Sunday in Lahore, Pakistan. In the wake of the Easter Sunday's Cardinal Vincent Nichols asks us to pray for the dead and those who have been wounded.

Pope Francis' Urbi et Orbi Easter Message 2016

Pope Francis delivered the traditional Urbi et Orbi blessing on Easter Sunday, following Mass in St. Peter's Square. Speaking to pilgrims and tourists gathered in the Square for the occasion, Pope Francis especially remembered the suffering peoples of Syria, Iraq, Libya and Yemen.

Two Outstanding Catholic Churches in Yorkshire now Grade I Listed

Two remarkable churches in Yorkshire have had their listing upgraded to Grade I on the advice of Historic England (formerly English Heritage). St Charles Borromeo, Hull and Ampleforth Abbey are now afforded the highest level of protection by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.

Bishop of Nottingham celebrates Mass with seafarers on board ship
