Fr Richard Leonard SJ, a talented author, speaker and film critic has arrived in Bristol for a five-day speaking tour as part of Clifton Diocese’s celebration of the Jubilee of Mercy.

Fr Leonard will give a series of talks across the diocese aimed at encouraging parishes and communities in all they do to proclaim and live the Gospel.

Traveling from Bristol to Swindon and from Gloucester to Salisbury, he will spend time in parishes, with priests and deacons, with the religious working in the diocese, exploring a number of themes and topics such as ‘On a Mission with Christ’, ‘Making the best choices in my life in the light of faith’ and the provocatively titled ‘Why bother praying?’.

The visit culminates with a diocesan gathering on Saturday 18 June.

Fr Christopher Whitehead, Clifton’s director of Adult Education and Evangelisation said:

“We’re so fortunate to be able to welcome Fr Richard Leonard to Clifton. He speaks with tremendous energy and enthusiasm, has a wonderful skill in articulating and encouraging faith through his story and experience. This visit is a real treat for us as part of our Jubilee pilgrimage and I’m hoping his week with us enables us to unfold the wonder of God’s merciful love for us and enthuse us to take that mercy in our communities.”
