A week of prayer, study and relaxation for doctors, nurses, chaplains and allied health professionals, who are Christians of any persuasion.

What will Happen

Talks, discussions and workshops on themes including:

  • Catholic Teaching on Dignity
  • Old Age in Scripture
  • Spirituality and Aging
  • Honouring the Spirit Within
  • Dementia-Friendly Parishes
  • Being Dependent and Being Human.

Who will speak?

  • Michael Wee, Education Officer at the Anscombe Bioethics Centre, which provides expert understanding of questions of medical ethics from a Catholic moral perspective.
  • Pippa Bonner, a Trustee of Growing Old Grace-fully in the Leeds Diocese and a Pastoral Worker at Apperley Grange Retirement Home in Harrogate.
  • Margaret Hinton, the Diocesan Marriage and Family Life Worker and Coordinator for Wrexham Diocese, which has won an award from the Alzheimer’s Society as a result of her work.
  • Sara Jones, a Namaste project worker for The End of Life Partnership in Sandbach, Cheshire. For more see: namastecare.com.
  • Fr Richard Taylor and Sr Margaret Atkins are resident at Boarbank Hall and are both experienced speakers on theological and ethical topics.


You will be invited to join in: Daily Mass, Morning, Evening, and Night Prayer.

You will be free to use the chapel, oratory and gardens for private prayer and quiet reflection

Our chaplain for the week will be Fr David Egan, a highly experienced hospital chaplain.

  • Local walking and sight-seeing


Prices, per person including full board and lodging:

  • £330 for single room with shared facilities;
  • £380 for single room en-suite;
  • £300 each sharing twin/double en-suite.

There is a reduced price available for those of limited means. Please contact us for details.

To secure a place, you will need to send a deposit of £50 (cheques payable to ‘Boarbank Hall’). The balance will be payable on arrival.
